About LAH

OUR STORY

Over 30 Years ago (1990) a small group met together for a parent support group.  This group provided field trips, some sports, a newsletter, yearbook, graduation, and the still popular performance night.  This first organized group in Lebanon, Mo was the HOPE group.

As the need for a co-op arose in 1999, Shared Learning was born. The first classes met with about 35 members in attendance.  Shared Learning bloomed and from it Fine Arts began.

With the growing number of homeschoolers, the request for organized sports was on the horizon and our Athletic Department stepped up fulfilling that need.

In 2002, with so many opportunities for homeschoolers being offered in Lebanon a need to unify brought about the Lebanon Area Homeschoolers Inc., better known as LAH.  Some reorganization of the member groups took place.  The Journalism Department, Clubs, and Field Trips / Activities were divided into their own departments to allow the other departments to focus on their specialties. Seven departments made up LAH. They included: HOPE, Shared Learning, Fine Arts, Athletics, Journalism, Clubs, and Field Trips – Activities.  Each department selected a representative and those representatives made up the Lebanon Area Homeschoolers Board of Directors.

Over the years we have morphed and changed based on the needs of the community and the volunteer efforts of those involved.  Some things went away due to leadership aging out or lack on interest, but the departments that remain are strong.  We are always in need of the younger generation coming alongside current leadership so that LAH can continue for years to come.  If that is in you- please reach out and start learning the ropes now.

STATEMENT OF FAITH:
We believe the Bible is the inspired and infallible Word of God. We believe that God has existed from all eternity in three persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. We believe all men are in violation of God's righteous requirements and His holy being both by nature and act. We believe that salvation is a gift offered freely to the sinner through the atoning death of Jesus Christ., God's Son.

By becoming a member of LAH you are not signifying an acceptance in the belief of the Statement of Faith, but are acknowledging an awareness of these fundamental beliefs accepted by the majority of the members, and realize that LAH group activities might promote or acknowledge these beliefs. Some additional specific direction is offered within Galations 5:19-21 for behaviors we attempt to avoid embracing or celebrating in our family-friendly setting including: behaviors, communications, or lifestyles openly celebrating activities that are inconsistent with Biblical teaching, expressly the works of the flesh listed in Galatians 5:19-21, which may be grounds for denial or termination of participation. "Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God."
